Contraception – A Key to Conscious Intimacy: Dr. Akvilė Vilkaitienė’s Presentation at the EROS Festival

Akvilė Vilkaitienė is an obstetrician-gynecologist, actively interested in contraception, with special attention to fertility, women’s bodies, and understanding hormones. In addition to her medical work, she is actively involved in non-governmental organizations and gives lectures on women’s reproductive health, contraception, and sexual education. Her work is not only to care for women’s health but also to speak about sexuality without taboos, helping women discover more freedom in their bodies and intimacy.

Contraception is one of the topics in gynecology where myths sometimes overshadow facts, which is why she invites us to take an open look at what is true and what is merely a frightening story.

On Saturday, November 22, at the EROS Festival, Hall 4, Presentation Stage, Akvilė Vilkaitienė will speak on “Contraception: An Ally of Pleasure, Not an Enemy”.

Why does contraception still cause fear, even though science has long proven its safety and many benefits? Myth after myth, fear after fear—women live with false beliefs that limit their freedom, pleasure, confidence in their bodies, and even their femininity. Myths about unwanted effects and “damaged” sexuality often overshadow the real truth.

In this presentation, I will invite you to look at contraception in a liberating way—not only as reliable protection against unplanned pregnancy but also as an additional benefit: less menstrual pain, reduced PMS, more stable mood, more joy in intimate life, and bodily changes.

This is an invitation to discover that contraception is not a threat but a key to free and conscious sexuality.
